Semimicro flame photometry of serum sodium and potassium.

چکیده
BE PIONEER WORK of Lundegardh (1) established flame photometry as an analytical technic, but widespread interest was not aroused until 1945, when Barnes et al. (2) described a simple instrument which was much faster and at least as accurate as existing chemical methods for the determination of certain metals. A dormant clinical interest in the measurement of serum sodium and potassium was thereby revived, and today flame photometry is a routine procedure in an increasing number of clinical chemistry laboratories.

Evaluation of the total analytical error in the flame photometry method
Background and Objectives: For total analytical error, imprecision (SD) and bias, performance goals for laboratory tests have most often been developed. A total analytical error goal requires that the combination of errors from all sources (random and systematic errors) be within some acceptable limit. M...
متن کاملContinuous-recording flame photometry of sodium and potassium in serum.
Serum sodium and potassium analyses by continuous-flow flame photometry is a well-accepted procedure (1, 2). Recently Habig and Williamson (3) have used the widely available Instrumentation Laboratory Model 143 (IL-143) flame photometer for continuousflow analyses. Pennacchia et al. (4) have operated this flame photometer at rates as high as 120 samples per hour. In both systems the results app...
متن کاملSerum Sodium and Potassium Levels in Senile Cataract Patients and Age Matched Normal Individuals
Material and Methods: The study was designed as cross sectional observational study. 200 senile cataract patients scheduled for cataract surgery in the Department of Ophthalmology and 200 individuals of the same age group without cataract were selected. Mean serum sodium and potassium levels in the senile cataract group were calculated and compared with the control group. Serum sodium and potas...
متن کاملCHANGES IN BLOOD LEVELS OF TRACE ELEMENTS AND ELECTROLYTES IN HYP ERTENSIVE PATIENTS
The involvement of elements in the pathological process of primary hypertension has been established. The serum levels of copper, iron, zinc, sodium, potassium and calcium were studied by atomic absorption spectrophotometery and flame photometry in hypertensive and normal subjects. Serum copper and zinc levels were increased in hypertensive patients (25.5% and 14.7% respectively) as compar...
متن کاملApplication of a vidicon spectrometer for simultaneous flame-emission analysis for sodium and potassium in serum.
We describe a unique new approach to analytical spectroscopy, which makes use of a silicon-target vidicon tube to rapidly and repetitively scan ultraviolet and visible spectra. We discuss the concept and characteristics of the vidicon spectrometer and illustrate its application to simultaneousdeterminationof sodium and potassium In serum by flame photometry. Average values of coefficients of va...
